    HJ cuff in sütterlin !

hello all! I have a question for the cufftitle experts here: does a cufftitle in sütterlin exist for the hitlerjugend organisation! I know the ss version exist in bevo only, but someone told me that the civ. HJ. org. might have had one in sütterlin!

    thanks in advance!:

      Cuff Title

There is a HJ cuff title in Sutterlin but it is not SS. It was worn by staff of the Reichsfuhrung der Hitlerjugend. (Angolia, Cloth Insignia of the SS, 2nd Edition, 1989, Page 342).

      Attached an illustration.

          Hi,

the previous replies need to be developed a bit.

          @ Waffen-SS unit (12. SS-Panzer-Division "Hitlerjugend")
          - only one official type was produced and distributed : the well known Bevo-Like 2 type, available from fall 1944 on some units of the division.
          - but starting from the training of the division, many soldiers had homemade unofficial (and unauthorized) cuff titles made/bought for them. Many variations are available on studio pictures. It is obvious that those unofficial cuff titles were mainly used for studio pictures, as soldiers will get big trouble if they weared the cuff titles "officially".
Amongst the homemade unofficial and unauthorized cuff titles, some were made in sütterlin as shown in the Williamson book (collection David Delich).
Of course every collector needs to be very cautious on those h-u-u cuff titles... It may be very difficult to prove that they are legit...

          @ Kriegsmarine unit (Sturmbootflotille 1)
          - scarely distributed in very late 1944. Larger than the BeVo-like 2 produced for the Waffen-SS division, in dark blue with gold lettering/borders.

          @ Reichsführung der Hitlerjugend
          - in sütterlin, for the staff of the Hitlerjugend movement.
I'm not convinced that the sütterlin included in the Angolia book is the one for the Reichsführung, because the design is very similar to the h-u-u SS cuff title.
You will notice in the famous 1944 picture showing Arthur Axmann that the black borders are quite large, and the "H", "J" and "G" seemed to touch the bottom white border.

          See You

            Hi,

picture of Axmann taken on November 30, 1944.

Notice the very different design than the one published in the Angolia book.

              Hi,

below the Kriegsmarine cuff title and the said Reichsführung der Hitlerjugend (which in my opinion is an h-u-u SS cuff title similar to the one from the Delich collection), which design has nothing in common with the cuff title weared by Axmann...
