Skull ring - early

I need you opinions about this skull ring.
I think this is an early German ring.

Never seen one like it. Any markings inside at all? Anything to
Indicate origin or era?

wondering if its a deep field with enamel or painted on Niello type. [?]

Best is to bring it to a competent jeweler and have the black tested to see if enamel.
It's not a pattern thats normally seen by ring collectors..
Doesn't appear to have any content or hallmarks.. Could simply be a 'mens ring'. My opinion is that it isn't a early ring nor is it German or of a military theme. Maybe wartime, maybe later.
