The subject appears to be a very nicely hand-embroidered pair of runes using correct style of bullion but with a very strange alignment on a late war backing material. The rank tab litzen is just weird.
Yes I know what bevo is, no need to be smarmy , I was referring to the material the runes are sewn on. It's no wonder new collectors hardly post, there's always someone ready to pounce on every word that gets put wrong.
I was meaning to say the material the runes are sewn onto did not look familiar to me .
I don't know what to think David,I agree with Ian the runes are nice and the black backing material the runes are embroidered through looks good.
Rank tabs substitute litzen is very strange indeed.
Cheers
Dave
I can only agree too.
I think the rank tab is likely fine. Not unheard of for the buckram to be taken out - better fit for a combat tunic.
I'm not a fan of the litzen on that rank tab either.
I'd pass if they're being offered due to the anomalies
Hello David,
The pair of tabs is certainly odd. The alignment of the runes and almost square shape of that tab are eye catching. Still they seem authentic. The rank tab looks to be field made. I've seen pictures of foreign waffen-ss units with blank unit tabs and rank tabs constructed in the same manner. I'm going with a set of field made insignia.
The absence of buckram is concerning however the comment about it being removed to fit better could make sense. As stated the alignment is if and the litzen on the rank tab is strange. Not for my collection.
