    SS Panzer Shoulder Board

    Hello,

I think I finally turned up a good SS panzer shoulder board locally.
It matches up well with several examples in Scott Pritchett's excellent book
Panzer Feldjacke - Volume 3 on the Waffen SS. It has the correct grey cloth underside, with a zig zag stitch. It has a single hole, which appears to be where a rank pip, regiment number, or arm of service pin was located. The borte color seems to match the platinum version shown at the bottom of page 96 of the book.
Standard keyhole button opening. Good piece, correct?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Looks like an original Heer (army) m36 shoulder strap in green wool. Not SS in black, IMO.

Nothing about this strap says W-SS, Heer for me.

                      Thanks

Thank you for the opinions on the color - Heer vs W-SS.
I do have some color blindness and have issues with black, blues, greens.
I guess that and wanting to have an SS pz board got the best of me.
I thought it was a faded black, when I compared it to the two regular boards it came with. Makes sense - everything else it came with is Heer.

So, since Heer panzer boards are black, does that mean this board is Heer for an assault gun/tank destroyer wrap or is it for a waffenrock dress uniform?

                      Thanks,

                      Paul

                        Hi Paul

With regards to the M36 Feldwebel Panzer board, it can be used on the assault gun tunic with a metal P in the middle of the board, but mainly these boards were used on the M36, M40 and even M43 service/combat tunics.

Would not be used on the Waffenrock as these were mainly the sew in variety with no tongues

                        Hope this helps

                        David
