    Okay . . .
Fair enough Gentlemen we all have and are entitled to our own opinions
But I too would like to know why this is branded a fake ?
Whilst on another forum it has been given a thumbs up ?
We all know there are some horrible items out there that try to imitate the originals -
but as I said this one has a good detailed construction so could someone please state why this should get the thumbs down ?
    Whats wrong with it . . .
Whats wrong with the embroidery it looks perfect to me.
There is nothing unusual from the reverse too IMO
So can one of you fellows mind explaining why this is a contender for the bin ?
Lastly if this is a fake the market isn't flooded with them ?

      Eagle

      Hello,

Regarding the earlier post, "The eagle was also posted on another forum (German helmet Walhalla) and was given a thumbs up as Dachau style eagle and was legit". I am surprised it was labeled a Dachau style. They are known for the amount of black base material showing through the lower feathers, etc. Here is a picture of a Dachau style I have - bottom one in picture. It has a lot of different features than the one that started this thread, IMO.

Can we have a bigger picture of the second eagle ? To me at this distance it looks a lot like the initial eagle in this thread.

          2nd Eagle

          Hi Coogan,

I will take a closer photo of the 2nd eagle this weekend. It is a vet acquired piece. I think you will find in a close up picture that it has more definition/separation in the main wings, and lower feathers, than the one that started the post.

I'm still on the fence on the one that started the post. It has some interesting aspects to it.

            Eagle

I enlarged an existing picture. Sorry it is a bit blurry, but I think it shows the difference from the one that started the thread, IMO. I'll take a better picture later.

              Eagle

              Hi Coogan,

Per your request, here are a couple of better pictures of the eagle. It is has a number of differences from the one that started the tread, IMO. Would you agree?

If you take nothing else into account the color of the thread is off on the initial eagle. Just shows how important good photos are.

                      Eagle

                      Hi Coogan,

I still agree with David (Stossgruppe3), the eagle that started this post is well done, in terms of overall construction. It lacks the detail in the feathers, etc.
It would be interesting for Gary Wood or Bob Hritz to weigh in on the originality of the eagle that started this thread. They have seen a lot of these machine embroidered birds and the many variants.

Here are a couple better photos. I think it shows the color a little better. Always tough to tell color from someone else's photos.

The eagle came with a small veterans grouping. He was in the 6th Armored Division.

Of course no way to prove they have been together since WWII But that's the way they came to me.

                                Eagle

                                Hi Bob,

I am going to change my vote from maybe to no. The close up picture in post 27 changed my mind. There are just too many threads that make up the wing and underwings - more thread rows per each feather than any of the originals I compared it too. I don't think it would be a good purchase. It is always going to have "problems", IMO.
