The design for this Dutch SS sports badge never left the drawing table - instead , the Germanische Leistungsrune was introduced .
Specimens marked either " SS " or " NSB " were produced postwar only ..
Thank you for the information, and I apologized for my pictures beforehand. It is all I had and figured people could see if it was a fantasy piece or not from what I posted. Sometimes people have what they have and try to do the best with that.
Feldmeijer the leader of the Germanic SS in Nederland announced (unilateraly) this badge in "Storm SS" N°10 (1st Year), June 13, 1941,
but Himmler quickly stopped the project...
A sport badge for all the volunteers in the Waffen-SS was finally introduced in 1943, the Germanische Leistungsrune.
the one and only SS sport badge, the Germanische Leistungsrune, was promoted on "Storm SS" N°45 (3rd Year), February 11, 1944.
Actually the badge existed since the previous summer, but a big ceremony was done in the Netherlands, with 90 GL in bronze and 9 GL in silver awarded to Dutch SS. Please note that the badge was given to all the Waffen-SS, not only the "Germanic" volunteers.
Strangely Feldmeijer was not invited to the ceremony...
