SS Panzer side cap insignia opinions

Hi Guys,

A collector wants to trade in an SS Panzer side cap.

I am just not knowledgeable enough on SS emblems.

Is this an original SS Panzer side cap trapezoide?

Looks to be an original trapezoid but they wouldn't be on a side cap, they should be on an 'M43' Einheitsfeldmutze or 'ski cap' as they get called.

Sorry to bring it to you, but I do not think that trap is an original at all .

IMO it's a very nasty fake .

Here is an original of this type ( top ) to compare :
the right eye & especially the cheekbone is distinctly different ( shapeless straight zigzag on fake ) ..

I would be cautious of the cap itself as well, SS panzer M43's with that style of insignia bring a lot of debate here.

Hello,

IMO, the panzer trap on the cap shown is a reproduction. Here is the complete picture of my good trap (upper left) and the three fake versions this trap comes in - white, grey and a silver flat wire. Hope that helps.
