I posted pics of this on the cloth headgear forum with more pics. Is this cap band green or black?? Sure looks black to me....

I agree, it appears black. An 'in the sunshine' shot would possibly help.
If we can now have 'trans-gender' can we now have 'trans-organization' ?
An under the hood would help tell the tale on what's it been as well as what it is.Last edited by Texasuberalles; 11-20-2017, 03:45 PM.

Perhaps a Post Schutz visor with the wrong insignia. They had bottle green cap bands initially but possibly this organization
switched to black visor bands when they came under SS control (also using SS sleeve eagles etc...)
So perhaps SS-Postschutz (with black band) with wrong insignia.
This links shows a regular postschutz visor...

Hopefully the owner will not destroy it ..Last edited by Daniel.S; 11-21-2017, 03:09 AM.

Thanks for comments. I posted it on the headgear section too. The general consensus seems to be Heer. I took some outdoor pics today and now question piping and eagle color. Piping seems to be orange when compared to the red of the roundel. Eagle seems gold. I'm personally leaning toward Heer Arty...but if piping is orange, feldgendarmerie?

dark green for sure. anyhow yours is a fine cap albeit yes, puzzling about piping and eagle.
I sort of wished it was w-ss, and remember a 'trans' I used to have: w-ss with army insignia. condition was great and made me wonder if the souvenir-hunting GI got it unissued at the BKA w/o insignia and popped the Heer pieces on, or if was late-war when wehrmacht or w-ss HQ really had more pressing concerns than a capband color.
