pile of rings for quick review

Hello Gents!

So I'm working on a deal with all kinds of stuff and included are all these rings. To me, they are all bad..but the seller is insisting otherwise (ofcorse). So, I told him I would get them in front of others for verification. Maybe I missed something. The gold one might be real gold, I haven't tested it because its junk otherwise. I just took one picture. If you guys think any are worth a better look let me know, I can take more.

Certainly not an expert, but the DAK ring and the heavily worn Aluminum skull in the center of the first row stand a chance.

I agree the DAK ring might stand a chance...the rest is probably junk imo...

Dak is a maybe, skull front and center a maybe or a maybe memento mori, neither likely considering the group. Swas wants to be a Fahrner piece, but those are rare and pricey. Doesn’t have the right construction but also a maybe, all in all- not nearly enough to go on.

You are correct,,fakes and fantasies all.. IF you have to take them to get other stuff that is good ,,hopefully then the skull is real gold at least.

He’s 100% right. Side note: “Dak” ring also appears to be dated 1943. Imho likely an American souvenir ring given the date. On the plus side, real. On the minus side- not super valuable, rarely worth faking.

Everyone seem to like the DAK, what is retail on something like this? $80?

Looks like the gold one will be melted for gold value. I feel bad for the seller actually..im sure he paid a pretty penny for all these over the years.

Luckily I was able to convince him to put the rings to the side and figure the deal without them. So, they might all be shipping back to him at this point.

To be precise it’s not really a “DAK” ring.. that really means “Deutche Afrikakorps”- it’s likely a Libyan, Algerian or Tunisian made souvenir ring (likely for an American or possibly other allied soldier) after operation torch/ the North African campaign... maybe Moroccan (?).. regardless- the date is 1943- really, 43 and beyond are souk-made rings for the allied soldiers. These are just usually called campaign, or souvenir rings, and are relatively common. Dates prior to 43 (largely they were dated 1941-) are the more likely “DAK” rings. The spelling of Africa is usually “Afrika” too. From the looks of it, the construction materials of the piece might be of better quality, maybe an earlier allied ring as it looks like an axis ring. I’d still say $80-$120 would really be max retail on an allied piece such as this- bargains can be had on them because of availability, $35-$40 not out of the question as a buy/sale price. I’d certainly buy one for that. Over $50/$60- it should be something special, at least for my purposes in purchase, imho.
