At nuremberg trails Tadeusz Komorowski exclaimed for him. I also have letters from jews after the war in wich they thank him for saving theire lives. Before the war he also helped Jews to get out of germany into Argentina. Himmler hates him, two times he write in his dairy that Himmler wants him dead.

Lets face it, very little of the stuff we collect will EVER be seen by the public. Why? Because the “public”, for the most part, could give a hoot less about relics from the past nor (certainly) the awards for achievement and valor earned by the soldiers of a government that’s been the subject of derision by every surviving government and their textbooks since the war concluded. Heck, they don’t even ‘teach’ history in the public schools anymore such that most kids get a few ‘hours’ of general highlights of the period focusing almost laser like on the fact that the Germans were the hobgoblins and the allies were knights in shining armor saving the world. Please don’t get me wrong, my Dad was in Paton’s Ghosts ~ the 5th Armored Division ~ throughout the war so I’m well aware that terrible things happened (on both sides).

That said, others stated quite correctly that many can’t afford ‘keeping’ an entire grouping or are interested solely in awards or insignia. There’s nothing terribly ‘wrong’ with that. It’s not so much a question, as posited by PedroMM that we’re “investors or merchants”. What we ARE is researchers and arm-chair historians. As such it’s our responsibility to document these acquisitions laying out what provenance for the future that we can. Down the road one of us might have the means and patience to hunt down everything they can find and collect belonging to this man, or Milch or someone else. If we’ve done our jobs or fulfilled our duty to history, they’ll be able to do that due to our diligence in collecting this stuff.

If it can't be sold as a group - perhaps it is best to sell it in parts?

How often do we hear, that something is only worth what someone will pay for it?

Which, if you think about it, makes the conversation here all the more ironic and paradoxical . . . as this time around, the sum of the parts proves to be worth more than the whole.

I have bought many groups over the years as a collector, they were just so cool! When I either got bored or needed money they had to be sold. To sell a grouping I often either had to take a big loss or break it up. The people who want to keep them together, which I prefer to do too, either have way more money then I do or live in their parents basement and have no bills. No-one want to break them up, it is just life sometimes.
          Best Wishes,

            Gents --

I honestly don't see the historical importance of a group of rather common and generic medals.

Documents, photo albums, letters and diaries, yes, but a few loose medals?

There is and never will be conclusive proof these medals on a whole actually came from the estate either...While 'von dem Bach' is a very historical figure in history, a heap of medals leaves me personally unimpressed.

Actually the pictures are on page 8 now (last page). Maybe someone can repost them to the top of this thread to make it easier. I tried to repost them but it didn’t work.
