      Its a tricky one . . .
My first thoughts are Yes possibly late war
But the runes give me reason for slight concern ?
Even though they are very symmetrical are they a late war woven runic tab ?
They look rather padded to me or heavily woven ?
I'm not over keen on the way they have been brushed around the edges . . .
Its that to make them look aged or this the natural they have been aged ?

I'm going to go with yes it has a possibility of being original.
but lets see what others think ?
      Regards David

I would think that this was taken off of a fallen soldier. I'd also lean towards ok

          Tab

Thanks for the replies, I can't seam to get a good picture. Its not really "brushed over", just really worn, the runes have some damage in the top center area which makes them look weird. They are not padded and the embroidery is not really heavy as they would say. Not defending the tab at all. Still has some threads from being removed, they burnt so they are cotton.

It's ugly but in a good way.
