    Rare kragespiegel

What do you guys think of this strange and rare fieldmade rank kragespiegel?

I think this would take a lot of explaining. Are those strips of metal for the rank tress?

The cloth looks possible, and I have seen original examples of the thinner silver tress such as used on LW collar tabs used on SS tabs, or even regular width NCO tress, but this seems very fragile.

Just putting gear on and off would disturb these stripes, by the looks of them, and it's unlikely they would stand up at all to the rigors or field use. Interesting...

Is it on a Latvian or Estonian tunic? Rank tab itself looks like it could be original, but not really settled into the collar much as I would expect on a uniform after 70+ years, unless this is a restored piece.

It is not on a Estonian or on a Latvian uniform.

Is the tress made of two thin flat metal strips?

Really well worn collar tab and not so worn metal litzen... Upgrade in the field? Possibly...
However it will probably always be a negative sign without rock solid provenance or a period pic.
