Cloth Skull - odd material on reverse?

Hello,

I would appreciate opinions on the odd material on the back of the cloth skull on the right. Notice the different weave to the material sewn to the back of the skull. Piece cut off from an panzer overseas cap, or other type of cap? You do not see the center seam of the cap? I've never come across one quite like this.

Only speculation Paul, that backing material was applied to sure up the skull before being applied to headgear
Not the usual skull encountered in tropical form as the one on the left is

Hi Billbert,

This skull is different than the camo green/brown style, IMO. It has a taller cranium. Here is a better picture of it and the camo style. Thanks everybody for your input on the odd cloth material on the back.
