    Question re Bevo sleeve Eagles

What year did wear of these eagle begin ? I no longer have any of my good reference books on the subject. I am guessing it was around 1940-41. Please educate me on this.

      Hi John,

You are in the ball park with pre-1940. Photos show RZM eagles in used during the early pre-Soviet invasion period, and I believe they were more common in the enlisted ranks of the early SS formations than bevo weave.

I don't think we have the order to bevo industries directing their initial production, so it is anecdotal evidence we have to make the year call. If anyone has the actual initial production directive, please correct me.

But they were certainly used on early tunics. RZM, as you know, spanned from SS-VT hammerheads in the late 1930's to those crappy late-war types found on M44's produced in 1945.

      s/f Robert
