It's interesting to see how much whitened thread was used in early tarn (heer) and zelth (heer and ss).
Threatened with a Bayer whitening patent of 1891 ( Wäscheblau I think the correct German mame)if I well remember ;these threads bluish under wood light.

In my father's bring back thread I posted about a few months ago, there's a picture of buttons that look like yours kammo man.
I wonder why my dad would have saved buttons?
Are they the same?
Would these buttons be used on other items?

Thats the missing buttons all right !
Probably just good for anything that needed replaced buttons.
It was a different time in the 1940s and people were thrifty.
