    Allgemeine-SS Studioportrait

    Hello Fellows,
Thought to share it with you before I'm going to sell it (thinking of it) and may never see the daylight again. Portrait together with his wife (think on their wedding day). He was later Killed in Action in Normandy, 1944 as Stubaf with the Div. "HJ". Earned the DKiG.
    Yours truly.

What a mis-mash on his uniform.

Later version eagle, early version skull (usually the reverse is true)
      Non-SS style chinstrap
      Non-SS style sword
Armband not sewed on but just pulled on

      What a neat pic!

Wonderful photo.. Does anyone else find it odd that he has taken the "traditional" female role in that he is the one with his arm inside of hers?
As opposed to the other way around, which is normally the case of the female placing their arm/hand inside of the males bent arm..

Or maybe I'm just overanalyzing the hell out of it.. but still neat nonetheless.

Perhaps it is really not [SS] Mann & Wife . . . but rather, [SS] Mann & Mum?

I agree. I think this is his mom, not wife. She's definitely much older than him. He is not wearing a wedding ring either. This would explain the arm placement.

Very well could be the case gentlemen..

Or another scenario is that he possibly enjoyed the cougars!

Just a great picture either way.. I've looked it over several times.. they simply don't get any more crisp or clear than this.

Germans generally wear the wedding ring on the right hand - not the left. I see one on his right hand under the watermark.

It is his wife.. not his mother

                          Where is her ring?

To each his own, I guess. Without any other evidence beyond basic conjecture and assumption - still think it could be the Mum [or an Aunt, or a Cousin, or a close friend - whatever] . . . the dark clothes and veil say so to me . . . and if I were a Bride, I wouldn't be wearing gloves - as in a photo as important as this, would like to show of my ring as well - demonstrating my half in the union. Doesn't really matter - still a nice photo.
