SS Cap eagle and skull for review

This set is being offered to me as Assmann. No markings on either. I only have these two pictures. Eagle looks to me that it has a chance but I have no idea about the skull...Late war ?

Eagle looks ok to me. I like the 3 prong skull but there are those collectors that feel it is made post war, so I would say don't overpay for the skull.

Good set imho.

Some don't like the 3 prong skull. I think they are fine and just a late version. With the controversy they are reportedly often found in mass for cheap prices at shows.

That being said I have never seen one for less than $100. When I find them there are never more than one or two and I am always looking for more.

I don't think there is any way to be sure where the set came from without some history.

I wouldn't assume that, I was merely stating that these are not cut and dry. I have not been in the hobby that long so my frame of reference is not as deep as others.

My point was don't overpay for the skull , since your market if you decide to re sell may be smaller than a earlier skull that has no distractors.

I have one and I am enjoying it for myself. They are not that expensive compared to others I have purchased.

Not ONE original visor cap has ever appeared with this three pronged garbage. The only visor hats these insignia ever were factory applied to were Atwood fakes from the 60's. If old fakes make you happy have at it.

I never said I was non believer so please do not put words in my mouth. I simply stated that these may have come off a Alteste visor since so many paired up the same as these did. Never the less I now own them and purchased them very cost effective.

Not trying to put words in your mouth, you could be correct, since Alteste visor were fake, the fake three pronged insignia could have come off a fake Alteste visor.
