    SS Wiking cup. Thoughts.

Searched the forum, found a similar post with an SS Wiking plate but folks had conflicting opinions as to whether such a "divisional" piece was genuine. Some said yes... others said fake.. and no resolution as to which it is. So... bringing the topic back to see if anyone has more information as to whether these are real or fake.

FYI.... someone's offering me two of these at $185 each.

    Hi,

the "Wiking" was on the Eastern front from most of the war, fighting in very hard conditions.

I don't see the point of having "delicate" china produced (even more for a single unit), when the SS was used to do generic china before and up the very start of the war ("SS-Reich").

So in my opinion it is unfortunately more a "pimped" cup than an original one.

    See You

Those are exactly my thoughts... but still being a novice in this man's army, I wanted to check. I did do Bing and Google image searches but found nothing. First clue. And I have a huge bookmark index of sites that sell (and have sold) dishes and such and found nothing there either.

          Hi,

you did the right thing to post it there, because the WAF is well indexed on Google, so it can help other people as well.

China is a very touchy subject, you can easily be tricked, and so many types of fakes exist that can think that yours is "good afterall".

Well, to me the font for "Wiking" looks more like old English than German style.

Good point. Hadn't even thought of that. And a simple Google search yielded EXACTLY that font set. Check the W.
