    SS Cap Skull M1/24

Posted this in another thread, but to some it is considered a reproduction. It is ground dug and has some minor damage on the edge.

          Absolutely a poor quality casting.

Use the search function on this forum to find original Overhoff skulls to compare.

It actually looks to be a crude casting of a fake ... ground-dug means very little as I could go and bury something today and then lead someone else to find it in a day/week/month/years time ... et voila ! a ground-dug skull.

                Ian.

The casting obviously didn't work so the teeth are refinished afterwards looking at them.

so did they plate the thing and then go back and finish the details and remove the excess?

God knows ... it's one plug-ugly POS though.

I personally do not believe that it was ever plated. I think that the front was heavily polished to remove as much of the flaws as possible and this brightened what ever cheap material it was made of.
