How often do you think the eagle and skull are "matched ",I.e., of the same manufacturer and/ or composition?

I would say less often than one would think.

You find matched Deschler sets on the black visors but that may just be that there were less manufacturers of insignia in those days.

On grey caps the odds are it's a mis-match.
