    Sahariana label

    Hi,

Is the following wording correct for a paper label attached to a Sahariana jacket?
(Umlauts over the "u"'s) and text centralised.

    "LAGO" fur SCHNEIDER
    Munchen

    Auftrag Nr.
    9436

    45 45
    98
    70 71

    Thanks,

    Grossfuss

It would not be unusual to find this marking on a paper label in attachment to a Sahariana.
However a photo would define its authenticity or not.
The Jacket would probably be in unissued state

Labels are profusely faked and umlauts are normal on German "u"s depending on what word it is. These are umlauts are appropriate in the context used.

Without seeing the rest of the tunic it's difficult to say if the label makes sense, but the cloth it's sewn on is textbook base cloth for a contract-produced Sahariana using German stock. There were Saharianas made from stocks of Olona which is an Italian material that looks almost like polished cotton.

IMO I would avoid this tag. You often see Berlin instead of Munchen. I prefer perforated tags...and this tag looks fairly new. I first saw this type of tag in early 90s..most likely they were around before that time.

                      Thanks for all the replies.

I only mentioned the umlauts in my thread because I don't have the ability on my keyboard and to insert an "e", as is common practice, would only confuse the issue.

As I can't justify the outlay on the suit at present it can be found on eBay.co.uk if anyone wishes to post it for review. If it's genuine, as it would appear, then I think it a very good buy at the seller's price.

And, NO, I have no connection or interest in the sale!

I did once have a Belgian-made Sahariana suit, which I sold and still regret.

                      Regards,

                      Grossfuss

I looked at the set on UK ebay and the sleeve eagle is the common "bowling pin" fake.

                          Many thanks Waffenreich,

I hadn't looked closely at the eagle and, though I'm not familiar with that particular fake, I can see it's a wrong-un!

I think it'll be on eBay for a while longer then.

                          All the best,

                          Grossfuss

Not surprised to see that eagle with that tag..IMO the tag is bad...and sewn made to look like factory placed.
