SS Officer's Overseas Hat - I'm thinking not so good?

Hello everyone:
I don't often haunt this side of the WAF, so please forgive my ignorance and thank you in advance for your input.

I've been buying stuff for years and my radar always goes off when SS stuff comes my way - I assume fake until proven otherwise. So, this hat was sent to me to see if I would be interested by a fellow who said he "got it at an estate sale" - I thought; "Oh boy, here we go again". BUT, he offered to send it before I paid anything, so what the heck.

Got it today and I'm perplexed.... No glow anywhere under a blacklight, so I liked that, but then there is the odd skull (bullion-ish?) and the eagle looks OK, maybe? Both kind of sloppy hand-stiched to the hat.

Then the stamping over use and blurring softened the mood, so to speak. Too much for my liking and the skull stamp? Seems over-enhanced. and the wear is not consistent or "natural looking" in my opinion. So, am I correct in thinking this dude is faked up?

One of the reenactor suppliers was using the "Falschmeister" logo - can't remember who, though.

Google "Falschmeister" and you'll find other overseas and M43 caps on various sites and auctions. At least one has an identical skull.

I will admit, I like that skull for some reason - it wants to be a collar tab skull, but ended up on a cap - it's nicely made - and kinda cute
