Pair of SS bottle neck shields ?

I got offered these today.
From an old Norwegian collection a friend of mine bought these. He has checked them at a goldsmith and they are made in high silver. But they are not stamped with silver markings. They are almost turned black over the years.
I have no idea about these and if they are made for "bottle necks" of something else or what ever ?

I really don't know what these could be used for . . .
My guess is fantasy items . . . They are very similar to decanter shields without the chain
You mentioned silver but I'm not convinced as it seems there are traces of rust all over them

The seller claims he has been at a goldsmith and checked the silver contens and they are made of silver and not iron.
I haven`t seen them in hand but I agree there are some brown color on one of them I dont know what is?
