Well I hate to inform you but you can see that model sleeve eagle in wear in Philip Agte's book on Peiper. It is an authentic period eagle.

NO, as I stated before if 3 dealers (Hannah's Reich, SS-BW & Last Reich) with all their many decades of looking at fake SS items, have viewed in person, mainly at the Farnham GHQ shows & commented on this uniform. Then I think it is safe to say the insignia & uniform are real but as they agreed it CANNOT be sold as an attributed tunic, as there is no real evidence.

Well with only 12 posts an anonymous name and no photos of your own collection of SS insignias your opinion carries no weight.

Dealers do not always say out loud what they are thinking, especially when commenting on other people's items and there are strangers who could overhear. If they want to defend this uniform, they can do it here. The eagle and possibly the boards look original, that's it- all else is fake. The collar tabs could be recognized as fake by a novice! This style of piped Reichswehr-type tunic, with breeches with lampassen, has appeared about 20 years ago with a few almost identical specimens, all named to famous personages. It is NOT an accurate representation of what was worn. Show me a period pic of this type of ensemble in wear! Grey lampassen for SS Generals? No way!

And neither do some very 'senior' members of this forum ... many turn their back when their favourite dealer/supplier chums are caught out. Look at the tuxedo bar scam
              fiasco.

It's a bit difficult to know where to start with some of the comments on here.
if you don't think this is representative of the uniform style worn particularly by Oswald Pohl I'd recommend a 30 second Google search. This exactly the type of jacket and ensemble he preferred and wore and was pictured in many times. May I recommend Höcker's Auschwitz album? Very good pics of him in this style of tunic but clearly not this one in particular. Which is exactly what would make it either real or a very focused and cleverly assembled item.
And yes, the below named dealers in my experience very much do know what they are talking about.
I don't see what the fuss is about. We have a tunic set that is not being sold as attributed and that is clearly stated. The insignia looks good to me. Price accordingly and by the sum total not the story or name tag.
                Buy or don't buy. Easy

I just noticed this thread, so I apologise for this late entry. I do not profess to be an expert on uniforms, but I do have some knowledge of SS personalities and their photographs.
I Claudius is totally mistaken in his comment above. Oswald Pohl was known to favour two types of tunic in the latter war years, and this was not one of them. His favourite design was the Litewka, with covered buttons and no breast pockets and this was the tunic he wore in the Höcker Auschwitz album, not this one. This is definitely not a Litewka. The other tunic style he wore was the open neck. Both styles can be seen on pp46-47 of "SS Regalia" by Robin Lumsden. The tunics are both genuine and have good provenance. I have personally seen both in the private collection of Ulric Woodhams.
To my recollection, I have never seen Pohl wearing this style of tunic in any photographs and I have researched images of him thoroughly. I conclude that this is a made up tunic which did not belong to Pohl and therefore cannot be considered as a genuine uniform.
                  Max.
