TK Skull on Banner - Fantasy Piece?

This was on a table with some good and bad items. I have never seen anything like it. It is available for sale, but it's not something I would add to my collection of Eagles. Mostly curious as to what it might be. Sorry about the image quality. Feedback appreciated. Michael

What you posted here is a lower quality cast reproduction of the SS dress tuxedo breast badge. Originals are extremely hard to find and there have been a lot of super high quality fakes going around since a few years ago, coming from Germany. Anyone who is serious about purchasing one of these highly expensive badges had better do some major homework first. Very dangerous, but mine is probably my absolute favorite piece of all the SS items.

Anyway, here is a picture of an original. The originals are always made from die struck aluminum. The red in the eyes is simply a piece of red cloth that was placed behind the skull and this was the standard way that they were worn. Sorry, I will not show the back side because I swore not to, at the request of the friend that I bought mine from. Still, there are lots of info that one seeking to learn about these can find throughout the forums and elsewhere.

      Hope this helps!

        Price

Chris- thanks for posting your photo of a real tuxedo badge, and NOT the reverse! Unfortunately, there are those who would take advantage of the reverse side picture to create even better fakes.
I have an extensive SS cloth collection, but know very little about this piece here. If you dont mind answering, what would a badge like yours typically sell for?
        Thanks in advance

Well, it's hard to say exactly, as the real ones are so rarely seen for sale. Sadly, I know that Kai Winkler sold some of his superfake ones for around 18K -- 19K, so someone was willing to pay that much. I paid 17.5K for mine. I guess it all depends on how bad a person wants one. I have never seen one for sale, besides my own, although I have seen a few that other people have found over the years. Anyway, it's a bit different than say, an M1/52 cap skull, which always has a current set price range from seller to seller. Still, I would say any really nice tux badge is certainly worth at least 15K, and probably more to some of the high end collectors. Of course, some people will say that these prices are crazy BS, but in reality, as long as there are even a few who will pay those high prices, then that's what they are worth, imo.

          Hope this helps!

            Fantastic example, Chris.

I heard some dealer was hawking Winkler fakes at the SOS show for $8500 each.

              This is sad.

The intentional shading bit always screams repro to me
