Couple of new Skulls

These two just came in a hoard of "stuff".

The Assmann skull is heavily vaulted and has the oddball low mounted pins. It's a bit of an ugly duck but I think it has a certain charm.

Assman is still nice (always I like dugs) and very unusual witch this low prongs mount.
Im not BeVo skulls expert but lokks also nice
P.S Did you dug this Assman in Michigan?

Not a "dug" skull.

It was from a little vet group in Gladwin Michigan. Here's a shot.

Hi Ian,
I don't think they were remounted in the low position. There is no evidence of them ever having been mounted higher. I have seen two or more with strange pins before. If I remember right there was another skull with one high and one low pin and another skull set up just like this one.

Here you can see how vaulted it is. Maybe it was on a crusher?

I am surprised the zinc didn't crack when it was done.

The skull is of course, original. I have not encountered one with both prongs placed down low like on this one, but there has been many strange anomalies found when it comes to the prongs, that were made or applied in some way, different from the norm but are absolutely period done. Prongs were hand applied and therefore, can be unique sometimes. I really believe that this skull was made this way and I can see no reason to believe otherwise. Like you said, there are no traces of solder on the upper bones and the solder that is there looks period, imo. Congratulations on a nice haul!

In this photo is not a skull assmann but see the eagle
It is easy that the skull would follow the curvature as well
