no they are not ... Looks like they are originally black ...

and to retouche the runes ok - but the rank ? - and why not LAH ?

Maybe he took rather blank tabs on then none as in a short time no tabs where worn. Was it in 41, don't remember out from head exactly.

As far as I know, no tabs where worn during the France campaign in 1940...

Have seen this before, not the foto was touched, but the original negative. Then a new print was made, for reasons mentioned before.

But how can a a negative be retouched when the positive colour is black ? (negative is White / transparent - so the runes must be made transparent ???)
