Hauptsturmführer collar tab

Hi, I'm not really into SS stuff so I don't know if this is common but I have this photo of a Hauptsturmführer (edit: Sturmbannführer) but there doesn't seem to be any silver piping around the collar tab. Is this regular? The photo looks original.

It's a sturmbannfuhrer and yes, it was common for fronttroopofficers to wear no silver piping.

Piping

Lack of piping on officer insignia occurred due to either expediency to change rank or lack of piping material in the field. Was a common occurrence. Also not applied to conceal the fact that the wearer was an officer.
