    SS radio operator insignia

Howdy! I was curious if SS panzergrenadiers that are radio operators are required to wear the oval shaped electric bolt patch. I've done a small amount of research, and I haven't been able to find anything that supports whether they are or are not supposed to have that patch. I'm currently working on a radio build, I reenact 9th SS Hohenstaufen. Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

Oval radio operator lightning bolt patches for W-SS Signals staff who went through an army (Heeres) radio school is appropriate for these W-SS graduates but worn in the SS position low on the left sleeve...(as opposed to high on the left sleeve, the army position).
Otherwise they would wear the diamond shaped SS one if they followed an SS course (these lacked the waffenfarbes). So both are possible in the Waffen SS. Later in the war the W-SS was much more self-reliant as the organization grew and less men qualified for the army style patch! Army graduates could of course also opt to wear the appropriate W-SS pattern if they preferred...
