    SS cap for review

    Got this cap but I collect binos so it's nothing for me.
    Please let me know if everything is ok before it went to
    the sales corner.
    THANKS

    Unfortunately the trap insignia is a known fake .
    Very subtle how they rubbed some extra dirt into its edges ..

          Can't comment for sure on the trap but the cap looks really nice in period Italian smooth wool

            Not the easiest trap to identify ;

            here is a thread about it and a side by side with an original of this type ( also notice the thicker line on the temple )

                      Sadly, I suspect a super-fake cap made to deceive except for the fact that they stuffed up on the SS trap used.

                      There are no signs what so ever that the lining has been opened up so that trap has been there from day one when the cap was made. Plus the zig-zag stitching was done while the cap was in the semi-assembled state.

                      The officer sliver piping around the crown is also post-war suspect and needs to be checked carefully.

                      Ground up reproduction from bolts of unissued Italian cloth that were found some time ago,

                      Chris

                      p.s. there are other super-fake indicators

                        That would be my concern as well - the zigzag stitching takes down the entire cap with it .

                          The zig zag stitching can be done by hand though to replicate factory stitching ... ?

                            Why are we comparing the trap on the cap with two rows of teeth, to a fake trap with only one row of teeth? To me it stands a good chance of being an original trap based on the other details that were shown in the linked thread.

                              Totally different to the one winkelman refers to...
