Plane tree camo cover 1st model

    Hi,

please let me know what you think about this helmet cover. I have the chance to buy it. It has provenance but I want your opinions about the item in the first hand.

    Best regards

It must be one of the "Last Ditch" sort of things where they were just too busy to make the reinforced recesses for the clips that every other real cover seems to have...

Very weird with the lack of recesses for the clips.

I dont really understand what you mean with missing recesses. Here is a picture of a clip of one of horsetrainers covers. It looks identical to the (rusty) clip to me. Can you explain what I am missing here?

Also about the provenance: It is said to have come directly from the son of the veteran who fell 1940 in France. This seems a bit strange due to the late plane tree pattern and the steel clips. Please let me know what you think about that!

                Best regards

Take a better look at original covers there is a groove/housing/slot in the edge made specially for the clip
                  fake cover with fake story

Oh right, in the fabric! I was looking at the clips themselves! Thanks for the clarification!

Here is another cover without recesses from ITALIANWARFRONT (I hope its ok for the current owner to have the photos posted here). This cover has been accepted on waf and I also like it.

I feel this sheds a new light on the cover that started this thread. I feel it was a real one...

The helmet cover also lacks the rocker hook reinforcement fabric material, just a FYI.

Late war cover with mixed steel and aluminium clips, not often seen, but looks promising from my end.

                            Cheers,

                            Asper

The rocker clips in post 12
2 the same and 1 different?
