Can you post pics of the boards please? I am very jealous of them - have been looking for a set for about a year now...!

It is my understanding that cuff titles were not the norm for camp guards. Of course if the soldier had earned the cuff from being in a unit authorized to wear a cuff, that would be an exception, as there would be evidence of the cuff on the tunic.

Agreed That VT depot stamp makes all the difference (for the 3 step example to be legit) . Very nice.

Not only... NickG. Contractors stamps and of course shadows holes of previous insignia. 2 step cut is only a minor part of ss eatly tunics.

Agreed Mauro. I have a 2 step and a 3 step M36 both with SS insignia traces (both also restored...as most would be).
Not a problem Nice uniform and Kurt's example is also impressive, but I prefer WSS combat...KZ is just too sinister for me as a farbe!

Did you buy it as all original except for the boards? Or is it a restored tunic?

The mid to late war Dachau skull tab is not a match to the pre war/eraly war hammerhead sleeve eagle time wise. Still could be ok though because insignias was around and in use. Nice blanket stitching on the hammerhead! Does that stitching match the inside of the sleeve where its sewn on?

                          Cheers

When I saw the tunic for sale it was listed just as above but without boards. As far as original applied insignia goes, the seller made no mention of that in the listing.

Another observation is the subdued chevron. I usually think of metal thread chevrons as more often early war and subdued versions more like mid to late war.
