A quick YES or NO from the "experts" please ...

Hope the moderator do not mind :-)
Better have the negative comment here than on the e-stand no ? :-)

    Thank you :-)

Can't speak for the others but the Norwegian Olavs/Suncross is for the paramilitary arm of the party and not the volunteers which was smaller and in black/silver. It's original though.

Nice Don Cossack shield and Turkistan volunteer in bevo. The top two printed ones look suspiciously like the mass of printed replicas that have been hitting the market, and the Galician shield is a replica, as noted (unfortunately!).

          regards, Robert

            Hello Robert, All,
Thank you for the info so far.
I do get private messages telling the Litauen is original...
Question ... When did these printed replicas hit the market , Year ?
Why asking ? Because all the shields I show are in my possession ( as for all my items) for over 25 / 30 years ... So nothing can be a repro from later dates.
Off course, the fake bevo "wallonie and others already existed at that time.

Marc, there are a number of variations on the Lithuanian shield, some with the name at the top, others just a simple black bar, some just the colors with nothing at the top.

What I like about yours is the bleed through, the yellow background fabric (which only some have), and the lack of quality in the printing. It looks like the type with the "rubberized" print instead of true silk screening, and looks more squat than a normal shield.

If you can't feel the color at all, and the material is not stiff, then it stands a good chance of being real. The Estonian variation you can see cut lines on, which is a good sign, but is printed on what almost looks like a light denim - and that's not a good sign, plus it looks slightly undersized.

The are variations of these, and it would be great if they were good. The latest wave of fakes came our about 10 years ago, but I've seen 30 year old printed fakes, normally of the more obscure outfits.

              s/f Robert

I see exactly what you mean Robert .
I can't "feel" the paint, and the material feels "dead" when holding.
So good chances they are good.

                Conclusion,

Except these two printed ones with a slight hesitation.
The "Lion" that is a "confirmed" fake ?

All the other ones are OK ?

Marc, I don't know enough about the woven-type Lithuanian shield in the upper right or the Italia shield to say on those ones. I don't have my references and are unfamiliar with them in terms of being pre-1945 volunteer shields - I'll let others comment on them.

The more I looks at that Lithuanian shield the more I like it, and if it's a true silkscreen, it's very likely good. That backing material on the Estonian I'm not comfortable with, but that could just be me - I've only seen the thin woven cotton and artificial silk used for volunteer shields.

The rest are good, except the Galician shield, of course. Nice haul!

                  s/f Robert
