This is a badge from the French Milice (the paramilitary organization which works with the German to fight the partisans and was responsible for many killings in France).

Hi Dennis,

I don't think it's milice as all their badges seem to display their emblem of the "Gamma". It's definately Vichy with that double headed axe and the closest I can find to it is the Secetariat General a la Jeunesse. An interesting badge but not particularly valuable in my view.

Mickey, you are completely right ! I made a big mistake. This is not related to the French Milice but to the Vichy era since this ax (the Francisque in French) was a kind of emblem.

I will have a look in my French books thsi evening to see if I can find anything more.
