Based on the Heer eagle, odd chinstrap (foreign made visor with low profile?) and added metal skull on the tab, I would say he is probably not Totenkopf Division
related ...I agree!
More likely a foreign volunteer (with a blank tab) who wanted to look more "SS" in the picture! Cool image! Any writing on the back?

A late friend who was in the Regt Theodor Eicke was adament that his schirmütze was an army one with army eagle and added Totenkopf.

How did he remember so well? It was a family members hat who had been killed in action, he "Inherited" it and wore it during his service at the Totenkopf and later as well.
