    Hi Tim,

Yes I know what you mean about selling other peoples items on the E stand, and I understand why this rule is in place for the reasons you have mentioned. However because I have sponsored the forum for the past 14 years and the items would be sold on consignment, meaning I would stand by them being original, whither or not they turned out to be reproduction six months down the line. This is also the reason I have posted each item and asked for opinions on them before I put them up for sale.

My main reason for wanting to post the items on the E stand was because I thought it would only be fair, as you guys are taking the time to help me verify the items, I thought it only fair that you should get a chance to buy them too should they be original. I know you are meaning well Tim and it is a very fair point so I will ask Dave Suter if this is OK before I post the items on the E stand, although at this rate there might not be very much to post anyway.

This has turned from selling a collection to a salvage operation for the poor guy, I've still not broken the news to him, hopefully some of these items will have a chance and can be added to his solitary cuff title, I want to try to give him as much good news as possible before I hit him with the bad news. The next item is this officers eagle, thanks again for your help guys.

      Kenny,
I hate it when threads go off subject. I'll try to keep it short.
I agree with you whole-heartedly. I wasn't out to throw a wrench in the works, as I can tell you know and have acknowledged. I hope your friend has better luck with the rest of his items. I have had two friends that bought items with no idea of what they were doing and wouldn't even admit getting burned. It's a shame that it has to happen. Good luck with the rest of it. I use the Forums to double check everything before I buy, or to at least verify that I haven't screwed up to the n'th degree.
For what it's worth, this is a good looking sleeve eagle. I never seem to get it right but I like this one. I think that I have seen it in Bando's book, but I'll double check and get back to you.
      Tim

        Thanks Tim,

Yes I know that and I'm glad you pointed it out, I'm already starting to regret getting involved in all this, and to be possibly banned on top of that would have been the icing on the cake. I contacted Dave and he confirmed the rules are the rules whither you are a sponsor or not, so you were totally correct.

That's good news about the eagle Tim, yes please double check it's OK and at least that will be two items of good news for him. Next we have a pair of Officers collar patches, hopefully the good news will continue.

Thanks Ludwig, that's pretty bad news, can we confirm the eagle is original, was hoping to tell the owner that the eagle and the cuff title are OK tomorrow, as it's my last day, then I'm away for holidays until next week.

Thankfully just four more items to post, an old fighters chevron , two RZM cuff titles and a pair of pea pattern trousers, then I have to tell him all the bad news.

I thought that I saw similarities with the bottom right example on page 149 of the Bando book, but the example in the book has a far thicker swaz. Of course, every example being made is going to differ to a degree...

Thanks guys, I think the eagle could be OK too Tim, it certainly looks very similar to original eagles I have seen for sale else where on the net, and as you say they will all be slightly different. However I think I would still like some more opinions on it before I confirm it with the owner. Here is the Old fighter Chevron I mentioned last night.

These eagles used to be available from 'Quartermasters at the Angel' in London in the early '80s for about £20.00. They were offered as being made to order in Austria by 'one of the Reich's original manufacturers'.
Various damaged examples were sold by Baldric of England in the early '90s as original "roughly removed from tunic" examples for £45.00.

We'll just start a new standard of identification on officer sleeve eagles. Ask Tim if it's real. If he says yes, it's bad. If he doesn't like it, it must be good!

Hi John, that's quite worrying , are you sure this is one of those?

Don't worry about it Tim, I avoid SS cloth unless it comes from a vet or their family, it's a whole different area of collecting and something I rarely turn up, so that's why I'm happy to bow to you guys who specialise it in.

I'm off on holiday now, but will post the last two cuff titles and trousers next week when I'm back. Any thoughts on the old fighter chevron? thanks again..

99% sure...I don't collect original SS cloth personally, so I could be wrong, but I have had a few of these over the years and I recognised it instantly by the outward spreading wingtips, French knot dots on the chest and the type of wire used for the swastika. Have you tried black-lighting it?...some of them have an unterlagen which glows.

Hi John, still in the shop and have just checked it , yes the under material of the tips of the wings ,swastika , parts of the head and reverse all glow brightly. Is this a good or a bad sign?

Also checked the old fighter chevron and it does not glow at all. One of the two RZM cuff titles I am going to post next week is a Germania with RZM label ,it glows brightly from the back but not from the front. The other RZM cuff title is a Wallonien which does not glow at all.

What can we deduce from this? heading home now and then off for a few days but will try to log in for replies
