    SS Pan (cookware) 6L

    Hi there,

Came across this 6 liter pan with the SS sign.
It was bought on a streetmarket over 45 years ago in Bavaria Germany.

What is your opion about authenticity?

    Regards,
    HJ

Why is always the big question....
I know they exist from the wehrmacht, so it could well be...

It would probably help to look and compare both stamps under USB microscope. Under high magnification you can look for similarities in wear, aging and patina development. Not 100% way to tell, but might help. Fresh stamp will have different micro features.

I bought a USB microscope as Jack suggested, and here are the results.
Seems to be real in my opinion.

Could you post a picture of other stamp to compare? I mean "6L" and logo. Usually micro dirt particles collect inside stamps over time. Your SS stamp seems pretty clean inside. On the other hand logo and 6L stamps appear dark, which may be from accumulated dirt.
Other thing. Inside surfaces of the SS stamp show scratches. I think it would be hard for scratches like that to develop on the recessed (protected) surface. However if they developed before stamping and then were pushed inwards by a die, they would remain there.
Just my thoughts. I am a bit suspicious.
