1938 SS Honor Ring + Party Badges - Erbersdobler

    Hello everyone,

This unworn ring was found with its NSDAP Golden Party Badges lately.
Don Boyle was kind enough to certificate it already but did not have any information on the recipient.

Would anyone have details on Erbersdobler maybe?

    Thanks!
    Klaus

Perfect fit for my collection ! Unfortunately I do not have him on my list. Professional help should be able to pull something from the archives.

I find it dificult to believe this is an original honor ring.

This is supposedly a 30s ring, from 1938, yet it has a 40s skull, that does not even match original 40s skulls, it may be the photo, but the eye sockets are way off.

      How about posting Boyle's COA.

I have owned 7 rings 30's to 40's. The one I have left 21.6.40 is about as unworn condition as your going to get. I can say this ring is not one I would feel comfortable owning regardless of who provided me with a piece of paper for $200 saying its authentic.

            Good?

How anyone could think that this ring is even close to an original, is beyond me.
It doesn't even have the proper skull type. Just my thoughts.

Good luck. The fellow didn't make it into either the 1937 or 1938 DAL, so he must be an non-officer. Have to find his records to tie the name to the GPB number.

Non officer? Hmmm... So could it be in the 39 dal? And if not as I understand it the only non officers were coburg men who weren't already officers- or was that changed with the new regs of 39/40? Also if a coburg man why is the party number so high?

I guess he could have made officer, been awarded the TK and not been included in the 38 DAL, only to be picked up later? Need to find documentation for that.
There was no restriction to officers only. Mostly officers, but initially it was all SS members up to Ausweis 3000. The Ausweis number was raised to 5000 a couple years later. And there was the reservation to award to whomever the RFSS wished. I have to check if the CB was included with the GPB at first. Can't remember off hand.

So, you guys are accepting this honor ring as an original, despite all the evidence to the contrary, because Don Boyle says so?

No Gary, I am not accepting it. I am not that well versed to distinguish the different types. I do have a June 1934 issue given to an NCO who became an officer a year or two later. Don looked at the ring and recognized that it was a 1940 reissue. But I found the guy and have his files. As far as the one above, there is no evidence a ring was issued to the man and until that is provided, the ring has no substantiation.
