Camo coming from Lorenzo - Helmet cover

    Hi,

I got this in trade several years ago as a mint/unworn example.

My field is not camo, but I did investigate this and I did not get negative feedback back then, but with the new information I am not sure. (This cover was bought many years ago from Lorenzo, then in some collections in Norway before I got it some years later.)

Could I please ask for opinions on this cover?

Thanks a lot to all that will take time to evaluate the cover.

This is a typical advanced Lorenzo helmet cover that is made from real cloth.
The sewing is modern in a very precise way .....something NOT found in real covers.
          The clips are new.
          The lip is wrong.

These covers are designed to fool the collector who has little or no experience of handling real covers but made by Lorenzo as part of his long scam.

Same cover is pictured in Michael Beaver book "Uniforms of the Waffen-SS" (on the page#911 of volume-3) with the same stitching, same black tape

Only problem is the the book cover was found in the early 1960s in Santa Barbra with a ton of other original SS cammo items.
Lorenzo made a VERY poor attempt to copy it from the book using his bad tape which is NOTHING like the original.
              Disco,
I know you are in love with Lorenzo but the sad fact remains he's a faker who makes bad covers.

Hey man, you need to catch up! Search for SS camo and SS camo covers and you will get your answer. Ok, it takes 30 - 60 mins of your time to find out...

i've read all those threads about "Italian fake covers" and each cover in every thread is different from each other as well as "tell-tales of the same faker" are different and reasons indicating that they are fake are also different -- in every thread and none of those reasons was really convincing. That's what I saw. I also saw that the same group of camo-collectors whose collections are very modest attacked and attacked Lorenzo who has the largest camo-collection in the world and who is also now an author of the new 4-volume books about SS uniforms, which BTW depict only items from his own collection. I also learned that most of big-name and most-trusted dealers such as RuppturedDuck, GermanMilitaria, HannachsReich, VirtuaGrenadier have been selling and are still selling Lorenzo's items which are 100% original. Excuse me but I don't see a reason why I should listen to you Owen instead of Lorenzo.

                      That's fine.
But all the dealers you mention have been fooled by him as have countless other collectors.

His collection was funded by his fake helmet covers through trading for real items.
                      That's the way it is.

Let's see how many fake helmet covers he sold you ?

His covers got better over the years that's why they are a bit different but the general style stays the same.

Are you saying the cover that started is real ?
                      Are the clips real ?
                      Is the tape real ?
                      Is it WW2 made ?

The Lorenzo scam was a big blow to the community so sad that he built a collection by swindling so many dealers and fellow collectors. I trusted him too for advice but never bought from him. I hope he will include a section on high end fakes in his 4 volumes work on German uniforms....

Its a wonder he isn't looking over his shoulder the entire time for collectors seeking retribution...
