    Bergen-Belsen Toten. Collar Tab ????

I am not sure if this is from Bergen-Belsen or a copy. If this is a repro. does any one have an original from Bergen-Belsen to compare with this one. All opinions are wlecome.

The Military Advisor Spring 1994 James Bender Pub. p.10 by Frank Thayer.

"The Bottom right collar tab is a machine-embroidered thread Death's head found in the supply bin at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp at the end of the war"

    Thanks for looking everyone.

Now we have 'Dachau' and 'Bergen-Belsen' tabs

            With all the best,

........and next.......the fabled 'Sylt' tabs!!! British-made, but on the Channel Islands. Few know that the Sylt concentration camp on the Islands was the store for huge quantities of SS insignia......all now available........but only in the UK as it was UK vets who brought it home by the bucket-load when the Sylt camp was liberated in 1945.........

It would be wrong to speculate that Dachau was the only place where SS cloth was produced/stored/distributed.

For example, I am sure they had items at lets say the SS Officer Candidate Schools as they had specific insignia to identify canditate students as well as officer personnel assigned to the schools--ie boards, tabs, titles...would it not be logical that the unissued insignia would be kept at the respective schools such as Tolz and Bruanschweig for distribution as needed to staff and students...what happend if a guard at Buchenwald or Bergen-Belsen for that matter needed a new collar tab, would he have to order one through appropriate channels and wait for the item to be shipped to the site, or could he procure one already in storage at the camp. I think Mike Beaver's upcoming books on SS insignia will answer a lot of questions on distribution.

Being serious for a minute, you'd expect a lot of EM tabs and eagles to have been 'recovered' from KL Ravensbruck B.W.,it being a major wrap manufacturer ?
