Strange trousers - opinions?

I'm posting these for a friend who picked them up at the SOS where they were part of a grouping being sold by the carers of the veteran who brought them back. T

The principle piece is a superb GvB tunic (badged) along with assorted insignia (another GvB band) and combat medals. They were all in a 1940s style suit carrier and these odd trousers were part of the package.

There is of course nothing to suggest these are SS but I post here as all the other pieces were and they do not look like any period trousers I've seen.

Any ideas very much welcomed!
