Thank you for the images. Colleague Coleman has distinct ideas as to restoration and there is much merit to his conservatism on this score. This tunic would have likely had a cuff title (Sturmband) with colored borders, and, if it was worn after late-1937/1938, a cuff title which most collectors believe in error to be an officer's cuff title, that is, one with alu. borders. Read Mollo's 1991 edition of volume 1 on the Allgemeine SS in the end notes, addenda, &c. on this point. Johann on the GDC site found a uniform not unlike this piece from Lindau/Bodensee, with early features, and with the later cuff title with alu. borders for the 1st Sturm. In my time, I have seen a # of these without cuff titles, which is possible (there are illustrated cases of this, especially in Ostmaerkische Standarten...) but one also tends to find them with the updated cuff titles, i.e.post 1937. In rare instances, can they be found with the colored banded (Sturmbann designation...) cuff titles and the Sturm #. From what I can see, this is an early-ish tunic, that is, of the era 1933-1936, which is a wild guess based on empirical observations. The tunics of the 1936 and later era had RZM tags and later very extensive VASS and RZM markings.

Originally posted by Bob ColemanI may be mistaken, but it is my understanding that an individual who was attached to the staff of a Standarte would wear a blank cufftitle or possibly none at all.
