I would not throw this cap in the garbage can yet but rather keep it gladly because it deserves further discussion, since being a private purchase cap non-regulation material could be used.AS PM wisely stated the Tuch has all the characteristics of a period material and the basic manufacture process seems correct IMO.I will not comment about the insignias. This cap has some chance to be original.

Deutsche Wert Arbeit. No Jewish workers made this hat, only Germans. This is what I understand the phrase to mean.

A similar mark in a police visor hat.

These are obviously not "classic fake SS visor(s)" but is the consensus that they're original examples or ground-up products made from authentic materials? I know little of these private purchase examples and would very much enjoy to here some opinions...thank you.

i believe it's a classic method to build fake SS allg. visor. Without a fake pedigree (ink name).

                    Hi Bob,

Technically speaking, the ADEFA label is the one that declared that no jewish workers were involved in the making of the product.

"In 1933 Adefa, the Federation of German-Aryan Manufactures of the Clothing Industry, was created. The group aimed to eradicate Jews from the fashion industry, and perpetuated that their goods were superior to those made by Jews. Members had signs in their store windows boasting that their garments were “made by Aryan hands” and the garments also bared sewn in Adefa labels. Additionally, the group produced fashion shows and exhibits showcasing their German goods and aimed to produce a true German style.
Eventually, the boycotts and work of Adefa culminated in in Kristallnacht, where 7,500 Jewish businesses were destroyed. After that horrific night, Adefa felt its goals of ridding the fashion world of Jews was complete and began to focus on removing Jewish methods and technique from the industry. Then, on August 15, 1939, as Jews were forced into the ghettos, Adefa proclaimed success over the Jewish “monopoly” in the clothing industry and dissolved."

Deutsche Wertarbeit simply means German craftsmanship or workmanship.
It's a generic brand name that a lot of hat firms used during the period, usually accompanied by some oak leaves, acorns, eagles etc design.

                          visor insignia

The officer and em visor both have what appears to be the same obverse die strike pattern. The em visor is pictured here in this forums archives I cant find the thread right now but found it the other day when this officers version popped up. I'll keep trying to find the thread.
                          Regards,
