Possible SS Number plate / Metal Sign???

Hi Everyone

I am new to collecting and so far I am not having much luck in finding genuine authentic relics. I have been advised that the best help is from these forums, therefore I wondered if you could help me to identify the following piece.

I was told it was an SS motorcycle number plate however having researched this, if it was a number plate, due to the size and shape it would be from a truck of some sort, and another fundamental problem is the colour which appears to be white letters, I am sure these should be black

Perhaps this is not a number plate at all, perhaps someone could spread some light on this?

License Plate

I would be extremely leery of an SS plate with white lettering. Could they have existed? Perhaps. Maybe others with more knowledge can chime in.
