    Forward Leaning Runic Tab

As some of you know I am a bit of a runic fan ...
Therefore I would like to show this runic tab I have had for a while.
Now before you all start slating me and the tab ... Take a closer look
Yes it has forward leaning runes ... (see inclosed pic taken from book)
    There is unterlagen underneath
The bullion is nice and tight and NOT glittery
It has a piping around the edge which I have to say is very similar to that of the last tab I posted ...
which if you remember had a rusted look to it.
(sadly I can't find the thread right now)
The backing is an area that gives me a little concern ...
There isn't any overlap of material which could be okay
but this kind of buckram ?
Over to you my friends ... What's your opinion ?
    Thank you and Regards David

      Hi David
Some say these were Dutch made
Personally - I'd not put such tab in my collection

I like the rune because of the quality of the workmanship and the unterlagen. I have seen several period pictures of it use.

I am surprised about this as there is clear photographic evidence for the excistence of these tabs..?..

David, I don't like the lack of symmetry on the runes towards the ends, their alignment to the tab edges, and the piping. They could be foreign made, but are not up to normal quality standards.

I do like forward leaning runes, though, and certainly believe they are wartime (or pre-war). Here is an example of the style I like.

Thank you for your comments Robert ...
But there is no comparison to the one you listed
The tab I started this post with never cost a fortune ....
But I am trying to get bottom of these other runics that are never given a chance as they were not German made / or classed as fakes
Though I am still interested in what others have to say .....
                  Regards David

Good luck on your quest, David. I thought you were asking about originality on the tab, and missed the part in your question about foreign manufacturing of the slanted rune tabs in general.

I posted my tab to show the quality and symmetry of slant tabs that I like, regardless of what country or manufacturer produced them. I think the runes on the tab you posted are too misshapen to be original, but your idea of introducing rune patterns previously dismissed is a good one.

Many good tabs have been dumped on the repro heap for no good reason - I hope this thread turns out to be productive.

I was and you rightly gave me your opinion .... Robert
I didn't mention the country or origin at first
Though I'm glad you can understand what I'm trying to achieve ...
But as you say and I agree there must be a lot of items dumped on the bad pile all
because no one has the answers
                      Thank you once again
                      Regards David

David- How would you describe the black base material?
Is the piping made of wire only?(specsavers)
Does this wire look like tarnished silver?
Forward leaning Runes is probably a misinterpretation
                          on behalf of the embroiderer!

                            Hi David,
Unfortunately my opinion on both tabs is not good. These reverse runic tabs must be very rare and the overall general construction is not what I feel comfortable with, especially the second tab you posted with permission.
Having said that, the very first one posted looks like it may possibly stand a chance, but again, I remain doubtful.
