I think this bird is a new generation of repros coming from Japan.

I had this in a cigar box for quite a few years probably a minimum of five .
I am not saying its not a fake just not new. I don't know! I just want to be sure
before I disregard it. Regards Dennis

Dennis, the reason I speculated that it's Japanese is that a friend who deals in W-SS insignia for reinactors had a BeVo sleeve eagle that looked very convincing to me. It was sewn on a tunic sleeve and was nicely aged by use in the "field". As I looked at it and admired it my buddy revealed that it originated in Japan... this was probably three or four years ago. And it look similar to this bird.

I'll point out a couple of features that I don't like. First the head... it seems you can actually see a separation between the head and beak. To me this is over-done detail. Second, the three feathers that are apart of the lower wing spans on each side of the main body. The span starts out nicely until it gets to these last three feathers, then they begin to jut out off the span and become very sharp until finally you have what seems like spikes next to the body - to me this looks like a Japanese design style. Third, is the area of the feet. This area flares out at a very sharp then angles in 90 degrees to the feet. In short this bird just doesn't like right to me.

I'll try and contact my buddy to see if he can send me an image to the style of sleeve eagle that I saw.

Well that's it for my comments. If this one turns out to be original... well then, I'll be the first to say I learned something new.
