      Ditto that,Junior.

Dutchcollector, the weave is wrong (front & back),the blue/grey outline is incorrect and the blue and red/orange are the wrong colour.

Invest in knowledge, there are plenty of reasonably priced second-hand reference books out there.Go read one or two.

      Kind regards,Ian.

IMHO it is almost impossible to say this is a wrong Armshield.

The Dutch have so many different variations on their shields (German made, Locally made etc.) that you can spend a lifetime on studying only the Dutch variations (quote from Bob Hritz).

On the other forum we had some great threads about Dutch Armshields and at the end there was no consesncus.

I agree that there are types which are real for sure like the Dachau type etc.

But you can not say it is not real because it is not known.

              Just my 2 cents

Btw I like the Shield (construction etc.)

              Best regards,

              Rene

                Rene,

In the previous posts everybody says the construction etc. is bad?! Why do you like it? IMO is this a 100% fake armshield, no doubt about that.

One should keep in mind that the Dutch colours of the 'Freiw. Legion Niederlande' where orange, white and blue, instead of the pre-war national Dutch flag with the colours red, white and blue. Only 'oranje-blanje-blue' was worn on the shields of the Dutch volunteers. In my opinion every Dutch shield with red is a post-war fabrication.

                  With all the best,

                  Cees

                    Dear Junior,

A big problem on the many forums is that if a lot of people say one thing everybody is following.

I only said that according Dutch armshields there is a lot we (still) do not know.

There are so many variations that you can not say something is 100% bad.
What you can say is something is 100% OK.

Cees has a good point about the colors.
Only I do not think this is red.

And also besides the WSS a lot of other groups has the Dutch National shield (NSKK, Ost Gruppe, Kriegsmarine etc.)

Again, these are my humble thoughts I am not an expert.

                    Best regards

                    Rene

I agree with Coco and other members this is a repro shield. At one time eBay had a bunch of these shields for sale.
I remember that "Pieces of History," which I have mentioned before had some for sale at $40.00 per shield but that was a couple of years ago.

I absolutely agree with Rene. IMHO this is of the same construction as the repro Norwegian shield which was posted a few days back, and the repro Danish shield I posted as an illustration in that thread. Similar weave and note the way some of the colours come through to the reverse of the shield at the edges of the colour fields.

Not a bad repro, but a repro none the less.

                              Hi Rene,

I can probably find some repros. in my reference files. I did sell one as a repro. just like the one posted above but it had the triangular shape, the kind worn by the early Dutch volunteers.
