SS pith helmet. Original one or fake?

Hi guys. This is the last piece i upload for discussion from a friend who bought some pieces years ago and he doesn't know if he was fooled or he maybe has a good piece in his collection. My knowledge in the SS area is very limited and since i know here there are many knowlodgeable guys and collectors, I would like to listen to your verdicts. Thanks in advance!

Interesting helmet....i haven't seen one like that before. I am not familiar with Kriegsmarine items but I believe it is WWII kriegsmarine. A nice example also. I think your friend has a very nice Kriegsmarine tropical pith helmet with SS shields added on. As far as the shields.....others can add their 2 cents but I dont consider those good. The same prongs are found on Luftwaffe pith helmet eagles that I consider postwar reproductions.

Green interiors are indeed a KM thing...same for their tropical field caps...green interior for Navy!
