    SS Allgemeine tunic help

I'm thinking about purchasing the tunic in the link below from Helmut Weitze. Before I spend that kind of money though I wanted to get an opinion from the experts on here about it. Does it look good or should I pass on it? As we always say on here better to ask questions first before buying (especially at that kind of dough!). Thanks for any inputs!

Do a search for Herr Weitze and you'll see everything you need to know right there.

The tunic and component parts may well be original but when they met is really anyone's guess (unless some sharp-eyed member has spotted him selling the insignia separately ... as has happened before)

      SS Allgemeine tunic help

The price seems to low for everything to be original. I went to his sight and looked at SS insignia. First thing I noticed were a couple is fake 5 number paper RZM tags at 45 and 50 euros.

At 7500 euro - the strong US dollar helps - with shipping it is about $8300us - plus us customs fees unless Herr Weitze fiddles the customs slip - so at $8300us it's not such a bad buy if it was a good genuine tunic - as another member said Herr Weitze has one hell of a reputation - let's leave it at that - ideally if you buy it - rush it to an expert for a physical exam and then send it back - I think it's a parts tunic - so you will need to evaluate if enough of it is real to justify $8300usd

I couldn't see the litzen on my work laptop but as you say it's quite clearly fake.

I would proceed with caution on any SS uniform item, regardless of the seller. As for the tunic in question, I am not a fan of the way the insignia is sewn, but that in itself does not damn the tunic.

buy a black SS VT / Allg tunic for officier is one of the most dangerous things to do.
99% were private purchase, the rest nco upgrades.
So you must have a feeling and experience to have an opinion. Sincerely i do not see red flags (litzen said) but i would focus my attention on the tag. Very used but tunic not.
Price is right for a restored tunic and a merchant price. i see worst price on sites.
Private deal could be more or less 6500 eur. less if you are lucky.

                    Tunic

The number "2" on the cufftitle looks very odd to me. Let's see what others have to say about that.

                      Cufftitle seems odd...

I think it's legit. In saying that though that 2 on the cufftitle looks a little suspect.

There was a grey tunic as well in that style with the sloped pockets and they looked very smart.

Overall as I said it seems legit, but that cufftitle I'm just not sure of....

                      Cheers

I appreciate all the comments and help everyone! I'll hold off on doing anything right now, probably will pass on it since the consensus overall for it seems rather negative. This is why we have the forums!

                          Its just put together item
as most of his items actually
see the stiching of the tabs? Definetly different thread and mashine did it
look at the distance between the thrread passing up and down the tabs - differen work.
I cannot comment are the tabs original, but the V old fighter is also newly sewn.
The armband i cannot comment without seeing on the back side

                          in two words -

Helmut Wietze is = Herman Historica

                          So....

There's parts of the tunic I like and some I don't. The price seems fair for what it is that is if everything is original. That don't mean original to the tunic just made pre 45. The sewing of the collar tabs does look to be machine done. This is one that's a gamble but for the price it may be a gamble worth taking.

Certainly machine sewn tabs have no bearing in validity of this or any A-SS tunic, most Allgemeine tunics HAVE machine sewn tabs, this isnt Waffen SS tunics we are discussing. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with machine sewn tabs in fact they are the norm.As they werent cleaned often as they were office suits mostly and didnt need tabs removed often for cleaning.
