there are SO many great fakes of this shield. Way more fakes in collections then actual authentic ones!
Many believe in the 'Perlon' shields. I don't, they are fakes. Only the Rayon Bevo like examples are authentic in my opinion.

This shield I'm sure will be the star of your collection as it should be,,they're rare as hens teeth!!
I know you've been after one for a long time,,so glad you got one! , Congrats!

OK, now you need the overcoat example!

Is there a thread on the forum that would show a side by side comparison of a real one with the fake?

Ths is a wonderful original and very rare sleeve shield. The original, as this, is made from rayon and has a distinctive weave and the shape of the crowns which is different from the fakes. This particular shield came from a veteran estate in Michigan. In my many years of collecting volunteer insignia, I have only seen 5 originals in this pattern. I am very glad to see this rare shield has found a home where it is appreciated.

A wonderful and rare example! In the 90's many mistook this for a Swedish patch
